My Merry Slipped, but I Caught it!

IMG_2482Has your “merry” held strong or has it wavered this month?

I hung my MERRY banner above the kitchen sink this year to brighten/decorate a spot where I spend a lot of time.  I found the banner fallen down one day and immediately thought about how my own merry spirit slips now and then during the Christmas season.  Has this happened to you?

For the most part I try to stay focused on the things that matter most at Christmas.  Celebrating advent, spending time with precious family and friends and not getting too caught up in materialistic things has been my protocol which ultimately leads to experiencing much joy and peace.

But every once in awhile, my merry slips and I succumb to the more unpleasant feelings this season can bring… the stress in trying to find the perfect gifts, the busyness of booking too many events into a crazy month, and the pressure of thinking the things I do or don’t do are responsible for my family’s “perfect” Christmas.  Can I get a like if you can relate?

Well, don’t worry, fixing this is almost as easy as hanging up a fallen banner.  First of all, cross off all the unnecessary things on your list and stick to the essentials – the things that matter most, which are never “things”, right?  Focus your energy on your attitude and the rest will fall into place. May you find peace and joy this week! Love, Robin
