Fall Color Ink-spiration

If we open our eyes and take the time to look around us we can find unlimited color inspiration for our art. As we head into the fall season I think there is the opportunity to be inspired by incredible colors. Join me for a fall color journey inspired by clothing and home decor items that I’ve come across lately.

Take a color journey with me by watching my latest Papercrafting Playdate Facebook Live video and download the pdf for your own color combinations.

Papercrafting Playdate #32

It all started with a shirt from Kohl’s….I found a cute plaid shirt that I had to have and a few matching T-shirts to go with it. Then I found a sweater, and just like that I added some new fall pieced to my wardrobe. I think when you are a card maker you think and dream in the colors of cardstock that you have. So I set off on a quest to find new non-traditional color combinations based on what I was seeing in the stores and here is what I came up with. The cards I’ve created are very simple – using only ink, paper and stamps. My first color combination is: Petal Pink, Merry Merlot, Cinnamon Cider and Very Vanilla.

Very quickly I discovered (in my color quest) that I wanted all of my projects to include the In Color Cinnamon Cider. This essential medium brown color is practically perfect in every way and looks amazing with all of my fall color combinations. The picture on the left shows all the items currently available in the fabulous Cinnamon Cider color. The picture on the right shows how you can make/color other essential card elements in Cinnamon Cider to match your projects. Did you know you can color ribbon, rhinestones, vellum, and Glimmer paper with ink or Stampin’ Blends?

Next up is the fun sweater which inspired the next color combination: Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride and Cinnamon Cider.

Nature’s Harvest Bundle

Lastly, I was blown away by some craft store inspiration to come up with my third color combination: Pumpkin Pie, Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent, and Cinnamon Cider.

Hand-Penned Bundle

Once I started playing with these color combinations I had a hard time stopping the creativity that came rushing at me. Take a look at the other stamp sets I used with my color combinations.

Thank you for taking this color journey with me. I hope you have not only found some ink-spiration but also a reason to get out your stamps and ink to have a card making session. Check out the supplies used below and think about adding Cinnamon Cider to your color collection. Wishing you so much fun and ink-spiration! -Robin

No doubt, some of your color inspiration came from my new(old) car. The official name is Yellow Blaze. Your sister and I have named the car “Blaze”.

Robin, your colour combinations are truly amazing, as well as the designs you come up with for cards from different stamp sets! I’m SO impressed! 🙂
