It’s the first week of the first month of the new year and time for our first card template. Woo hoo! We are starting out REALLY simple too because, well, sometimes the first week of a new year is a bit rough, right? If you are sliding into the new year similarly to me then you will want to get back to stamping with a sure-fire simple and beautiful card template You are also going to love how this template makes 3 cards at one time.
Let’s jump in and break this template apart so you can grab some patterned paper and start mass producing some cards!
- 5-1/4” x 4” patterned paper, 3 different patterns
- 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” cardstock base, cut 3
- Neutral cardstock piece/punch/die cut for greeting
- Scraps for die cutting/punching embellishment
- 5-1/4” x 4” copy paper, cut 3 (optional)
Choose 3 pieces of patterned paper that coordinate with each other. It works well if one of the patterns is bold and multicolored, while the other two are more subtle with contrasting patterns. Stack the 3 pieces on top of each other making sure the pattern designs are oriented vertically while prepping for cutting in the next step.
Measure 1-1/4” down from the top left corner and 2” down from the top right corner and mark with a pencil. Then measure1-1/4” up from the bottom left corner and 2” up from the bottom right corner and mark with a pencil.
Cut all 3 pieces at the same time. Line up the top left corner pencil mark with the top right corner mark along the cutting groove on the paper trimmer and cut between the marks. Do the same thing between the bottom left corner and the bottom right corner marks and cut. These two cuts will give you three angled pieces.
Separate the cut pieces into 3 card fronts where each card front has one of each of the 3 patterns: a top, a middle, and a bottom.
Adhere the tops, middles and bottoms to the card base lining up the edges. To make this easier first adhere the pieces to copy paper sized 5-1/4” x 4”. This allows you to straighten up the edges if needed. Then adhere the copy paper to the card base.
Stamp a greeting onto a punched or die cut piece of neutral or coordinating cardstock and attach to the card base overlapping one of the two seams where the patterned papers meet.
Get your paper trimmer out and get started cutting up some patterned paper you love and throw together some very eye-catching designs! I’d love to see what you come up with – send me an email with a picture of your creations! email@example.com
