Dry Embossing using Stencils

Supplies Needed

  • plastic stencils
  • Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Silicone Craft Sheet

Any plastic stencil can be used to dry emboss on cardstock as long as you can adjust the layers of your Cut & Emboss Machine to include the silicone mat. For the Layers of Beauty card below I used the Layers of Beauty Decorative Masks #1-5 first to create the stenciled image. Then I aligned decorative mask #1 over the stenciled image and secured in place with masking tape before sending it through the Cut & Emboss Machine. The layered “sandwich” I used from bottom to top is: Base, Cutting Plate, stencil & cardstock facedown, Silicone Craft Sheet, and the Specialty Plate

Create Your Own Stencil Technique

Supplies Needed

  • cardstock or Window Sheets
  • Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Dies or Punches
  • Versamark ink and clear embossing powder

The sky is the limit when you make your own stencils! Using regular cardstock and the die or punch of your choice you can create a homemade stencil that coordinates with the images you are using. Simply cut out the die or punch from the center of a piece of cardstock and you have create a stencil! To reinforce the stencil and help be more durable, heat emboss using Versamark Ink and Clear Embossing powder one entire side of the stencil.

For an even sturdier homemade stencil, use a window sheet! Cut out shapes from the window sheet to make an entire background or just one image.

Once you have stencils to use the fun begins. Blend ink through the stencil! Stamp through the stencil! Marker through the stencil! Spritz through the stencil! Stencil through the stencil!

Endless Love Bundle & homemade heart stencil.

It’s your turn to go stencil crazy and try something new. I hope you have so much fun creating your own stencils, and using them in different ways!
