4 in 1 Quadrilateral Cards ?

Do you love math? I am in awe of people whose brains process math easily and quickly because mine does not. It is serious work for me. The only time I feel competent with numbers is when I’m in my craft space and measuring & cutting paper, and that’s only because I’ve practiced A LOT! But don’t stop reading this because you think we are doing math today… I wouldn’t do that to you. I only bring it up because of the fun angled shapes we are creating on our card fronts with today’s pattern.

Today’s fun card template utilizes a 6 x 6 piece of gorgeous patterned paper that is easily chopped into interesting four-sided shapes (called irregular quadrilaterals btw I had to look it up). These irregular quadrilateral shapes (which means no two sides or angles are the same) create major interest with little effort. AND since there is an amazing Designer Series Paper sale happening during July 2021 I am focusing on ways to use this delicious paper.

Supplies Needed

1 – 6 x 6 sheet of Designer Series Paper or cardstock

4 – 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” card bases in a coordinating cardstock color

4- 5 1/4” x 4” pieces of Basic White

4 – 2 3/4” x 4 1/4” pieces of a coordinating cardstock color

Coordinating cardstock scraps to create die cut accents/embellishments

Embossing Folder of choice

Directions for Cutting the DSP or Cardstock

Measure 1” from each corner as shown in the diagram and mark with a pencil. Lightly draw a line between the marks to get the 4 irregular quadrilateral shapes.
Line up the marks on the along the cutting line of the paper trimmer and cut first between point A and point B. This will give you two “halves”. Then cut on the remaining drawn lines (starting at point C, then point D) to cut the “halves” into two pieces.
Taking note of the 4 corners where you measured at 1”, adhere the irregular quadrilateral shapes to the Basic White 4” x 5 1/4” pieces, putting the corners in the top left of each piece. (Note: if you mark and cut your DSP on the backside you will have to mount the quadrilaterals in the bottom left corner.)
Use an embossing folder to dry emboss the 4 – 2 3/4” x 4 1/4” pieces of coordinating cardstock. These pieces are going to fill in the space next to the irregular quadrilateral to make a continuous diagonal line across the card front. These pieces are larger than needed to fill the space on the card front so the edges will get cut off once they are adhered to the piece of Basic White.
Stamp a sentiment along the diagonal continuous line you just created with the DSP and embossed cardstock.
Add an embellishment like ribbon, punch or die to the spot where the DSP and embossed cardstock meet.

Once you make a set of these amazingly easy cards you will want to think about giving them as gifts. You can package them up so nicely using the acetate card boxes.
