The Double Collar Fold has two features that are very pleasing to the eyes. The first feature are the angled lines that draw your focus to the center of the card front, and the second feature is that it showcases both sides of the pattern paper at the same time. My inspiration for this card front idea comes from fellow demonstrator, Kristina Baldwin. Check out her amazing website and ideas here.

Here’s Your Homework 😉
- Watch the video tutorial for Double Collar Folds – Papercrafting Playdate 144
- Download the pdf for written, step-by-step instructions on how to create the Double Collar Fold to use as you create one.
- Grab some of your favorite double-sided pattern paper and start creating!
Double Collar Fold Supplies & Directions
- 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” cardstock
- 2-1/2” x 5-1/4” DSP
- (2) 1-3/4” x 5-1/4” DSP
- 2- 3/4” square cardstock
- 2-1/2” square cardstock
- 2-1/4” square Basic White
- 4” x 5-1/5” copy paper (optional)
- Determine the orientation of the pattern on the DSP – either vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape). Cut the pieces of DSP keeping the pattern in mind.
- Attach the 2-1/2” x 5-1/4” piece of DSP to the center of the card front. There will be 7/8” space on the left and right edges.
- Attach the two 1-3/4” x 5-1/4” pieces of DSP on either side of the first DSP but ONLY use adhesive along the outermost edge of the pieces. The inside edges of the pieces will be unattached and ready for folding into the collar folds.
- Create four collar folds on the inside edges by folding back diagonally. Start the fold approximately where the edge of the 2-1/2” x 5-1/4” piece of DSP ends underneath. Once the folds are complete, add a touch of adhesive to the area where the collar folds meet to secure to card front, but let the collar folds stay unattached.
- Layer the squares together, pop-up, and attach diagonally to the center of the card.

Get creative with the kind of focal point you add to the front of the Double Collar Fold; the possibilities are endless!

Expand this idea to create a stunning backdrop for a large photo on a scrapbook page. To create the Double Collar Fold for a 12 x 12 page I used pieces of DSP measuring 3″x12″ (2) and 6″ x 12″ (1). The photo is a 5-1/2″ square.

Now it’s your turn to create some Double Collar Folds with your favorite double-sided pattern papers. I look forward to seeing what you create!

I love the card with the cross. It will be perfect for April’s card for our church shut-ins. I can’t wait to make my own version.
Thank you, Robin, for your fresh ideas. Have a blessed day!!
