May Day Baskets & Flowers

Traditionally, on May 1st flowers were given to friends and neighbors in little baskets hung on doors. This tradition celebrated spring and new life through beautiful flower blooms. To honor this custom we are going to make some paper baskets and paper flowers today!

I have patterns to create these easy baskets in two sizes for you! You can create these adorable baskets using Designer Series Paper or Cardstock, and when it is time to decorate the basic basket, how about creating some easy paper flowers? When you start to think about what kinds of treats or gifts could fill these baskets the possibilities are unlimited!!!! But let’s not stop there! How about creating some 3D flowers with cardstock and making a miniature arrangement? You ready to get started?  Supplies Needed for Baskets

  • 8.5” x 8.5” (or 6″ x 6″ for small) Double-sided Pattern Paper or Cardstock
  • 1” x 8.5” (or 3/4″ x 6″ for small) coordinating cardstock strip for handle
  • Additional coordinating cardstock for decorating basket
  • Bone Folder
  • Seal+ Adhesive or strong adhesive

Use the written pdf tutorial or the video to get the details on each step of the basket process, and to see how you adjust the dimensions for a smaller basket.

Now to the decorating and filling!

Here is the smaller basket using a 6″ x 6′ piece of the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper.
Make the basket large or small depending on what you are putting inside them.
