Two things happened this week that dictated some unexpected thought processes and shifted gears for me mentally. The first thing that happened is that Stampin’ Up! had a day of service within the company on 9/16 to focus on giving back to their community with the theme of heart health. You may have noticed on page 5 of the Aug-Dec Mini Catalog a stamp set called, Strong of Heart. Stampin’ Up! has created this stamp set with heart health in mind and is committed to donating $3 from the sale of each Strong of Heart stamp set to support heart health. Brilliant.
I was already thinking about how to incorporate this stamp set into my weekly crafting and purpose when we received some sad news (this is the second thing that happened). My mother in law was told she has breast cancer again, fifteen years after having it and beaten it before. To compound the dismay, her sister has received the exact return diagnosis last month. It is overwhelming really.
This prompted me with an idea to be able to do something in a small way that I know will give me purpose, but I hope will be a blessing to YOU also. My Papercrafting Playdate this week was planned and ready to showcase a Patchwork Stack & Cut method of card making, and I shifted my designs to align with the idea of making cards to give to those afflicted with diagnoses of any kind. I like the idea of being able to either give encouragement through a card or to help others to be encouragers – well both really. There are so many diagnoses or disorders that coordinate with pink, yellow and green ribbons and I’m sharing a few that hit home for me personally.
Pink Ribbon Awareness: Breast Cancer, Health Care workers
Green Ribbon Awareness: Depression, Mental Health, Bipolar, Organ Donation & Transplant, Bone Marrow, Leukemia
Yellow or Gold Ribbon Awareness: Our troops, Suicide prevention, Adoption, Bladder Cancer, Childhood Cancer (Neuroblastoma)
I would like to make monetary donations in my local community towards both heart health to support Stampin Up!’s commitment and also to breast cancer and YOU can help me. I am offering you the opportunity to earn a Patchwork Stack & Cut Card Kit from me with a qualifying $40 purchase from now until September 30th. My goal with this idea is to encourage you to earn the kit, and make the cards so that you can encourage others with your words. These cards don’t have to be made specifically for a cause or awareness of something in particular, just send them to someone who needs encouragement of any kind or give the set as a gift to someone who is already a fantastic encourager that will use the cards.
