Simple Shapes Cards & Card Holder – Papercrafting Playdate 183

Handmade cards make great gifts to give for special occasions or “just because.” I have a simple little project for you that creates three coordinating cards that will fit perfectly inside a handmade card holder! This project is extra fun because you start with square shapes that you cut into triangles and rearrange into rectangle card fronts!

  3. Cut three 3″ squares and get started!
Papercrafting Playdate 183 – Simple Shapes Cards & Card Holder

Measurements & Directions for Simple Shapes Cards

  • 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” cardstock bases (3)
  • 3” square DSP (3 different patterns)
  • 4-1/4” x 3” cardstock neutral (3)
  • 4-1/2” x 3-1/4” coordinating cardstock (3)
  1. Cut square A in half diagonally.
  2. Cut squares  B & C in half diagonally, then cut one each of the triangles in half on the straight edge.
  3. Arrange and attach the triangles into three different combinations on the 4-1/4” x 3” pieces.
  4. Stamp greeting images in the empty spaces.
  5. Attach to 4-1/2” x 3-1/4” pieces of coordinating cardstock.
  6. Pop-up onto card bases and embellish
How to cut the three 3″ squares into triangles.

Once you get going making these easy cards you will want to make larger batches by using six 3″ squares instead of three. This is a great way to play with all the patterns in a package of Designer Series Paper.

  • 8-1/2” x 10” cardstock
  • 24” ribbon
  • 4” x 5-1/2” DSP or cardstock (2)
