Perfectly Slanted Patterned Paper – A new card template!

Easy, quick & stunning! Am I very weird or do you also get super excited when you come across a great card layout? Well I KNOW I’m weird, but hope you are too! This week Stampin’ Up! sent along a great card template in their weekly email to demonstrators. I knew immediately it was a dynamite template and put it right to work, and now I get to share it with you! Check out my Facebook Live Papercrafting Playdate video replay below and download the pdf tutorial for your resources. Enjoy this fun card layout!

Perfectly Slanted Card Template #5
Papercrafting Playdate #29 – Perfectly Slanted Card Template

Basic Supplies Needed – makes 2 cards

  • 4” x 11” cardstock base, scored at 5 1/2” (cut 2)
  • 4” x 5.5” DSP (2 sheets that coordinate)
  • 2.5” square DSP cut with circle die or punch (cut 2)
  • 2.5” x .5” Basic White (cut 2)
  • 7” ribbon (cut 2)
Lay the 2 – 4” x 5.5” patterned papers on top of each other so that you can cut them at the same time. Make sure the sides that you want showing on your card front are facing up. Measure 1 1/2” down from the top right corner and 2 1/2” up from the bottom left corner and make a mark. Draw a line to connect the two marks and cut on this line. This will give you four pieces to make 2 cards.
Mix and match the diagonal cut patterned paper so that you have a top and bottom piece of each pattern and attach to the card front.
Fold the 7” of ribbon in half and attach the fold to the top diagonal cut about 1/4” from the left edge of the card and 2” from the top edge of the card.  This ribbon will be a layer under the circle.
Cut 2 circles out of the 2.5” square (DSP) patterned paper using a circle die or punch.  The circle size can be any size between 2” and 2 1/4” in diameter. Pop up the circle with dimensionals over the ribbon.  The circle should sit about 1/3 of the way over the seam where the 2 papers meet so that the majority of the circle is on the top half of the card.Stamp greeting sentiment on the 2.5” x .5” piece of Basic White and mount horizontally across the bottom right of the circle and slightly underneath the ribbon layer. Add an embellishment to the circle to finish off the card.

Once you try the basic card template layout I challenge you to come up with some ways to vary it by changing one or two things. An easy way to make a variation is to slightly alter the dimensions so that the card base shows around the patterned paper and creates a border.

Variation to the Template so that the card base shows:

  • 4 1/4” x 11” cardstock base, scored at 5 1/2”
  • 4” x 5 1/4” DSP

This is the kind of template that makes you want to try it with EVERY single pack of patterned paper that you have in your stash (or many different ones) because it makes you so happy! Let me know which pair of cards is your favorite!!
